After the success of the Harry Potter series, I heard that J K Rowling bought a castle. I googled it and found the attached picture. I don’t know if this is really her house, but it’s not my definition of a castle. The source where I got the picture called her house an historic Georgian country estate, built in 1865.
In my daydreams, when I’m not running plots through my mind, I think of what kind of house I’d buy, if I wrote Harry Potter.
Nichole, my friend, dreams of the day when she can purchase a tropical island and live on the beach with her laptop. Others think of mountain cabins. Still, others hope for a New York City penthouse.
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be? Have you seen a house in the movies and said. I could write there? When I saw the new version of Yours Mine and Ours, I fell in love with the lighthouse tower. “I could write there,” I said. I since found out it was a set and the exterior views were doctered. the lighthouse doesn't exist.
While cropping 1930's postcard images at my former job, I discovered a castle on the Rhine River in Germany, and imagined myself writing in that setting. I found a picture of how it looks today, and discovered it’s a tourist trap.
So, I’m curious. Where would you live?
Good luck with your writing---see you next week.

The last thing I would do is buy anything so large or so grand!
I want a cozy cottage, in a peaceful valley where a river runs through it, populated with animals that graze the green acreage. I want ample land to roam and explore where nothing needs to mowed, pruned or weeded. I want trees where bright songbirds build nests and grandchildren climb the strong boughs.
No I can do without a castle but a fairyland will do.
Thanks for offering this wonderful treat on a sunny Saturday morning. I'm going back to reality now.
I love this post! I have thought about this very thing a lot lately! I can almost taste it!
I would love to live in a country house in Ireland! An abbey draws my attention too, but my imagination is too wild for me to live in a place like that... I would be scared all the time.
It is good to imagine your life after success, because if you can imagine it, and you are taking the necessary steps to achieve it, then it will happen!
I was in that Cinderella house
And found seclusion on a tour
My husband sang...as romance was roused
Oh, desired object of my sweet ardor...
Like a princess... I felt adored
Romance and music filled my heart
Home is where the heart is- underscored
Here beauty did impart
Since then, he's given me a home for heavenly thoughts
Windows of height for seeking far to find it-
Through morning light where time does pause
Whisperings warm and quiet
Any secluded, country place in England or Italy and I would be in Heaven.
I'm fine with my house, but I'd add a room for each kid.
The part I fantasize about is having someone besides me to be the grunt on the farm to weed and pick the corn.
Yup. THat to me, is more awesome than a big fancy house.
thanks for sharing!
I choose the lake house in my novel. The smaller one. *sigh*
I wouldn't mind "Pemberly" as a place to cool my heels. ;)
I'd choose a mountain cabin, but I definitely wouldn't want to be there alone.
